My husband and I decided at the end of last year to buy a tiny little cabin up in the mountains of Colorado. We are very fortunate to have had this opportunity and are working bit by bit to make it ours. Quite honestly there is nothing wrong with the cabin, it just isn’t us. We have several projects that are are planning on starting and I will share them here with you dear readers. I will also be updating all of our projects here on this site as well as sharing them on hometalk.com and pinterest.com
Current working projects……….
Driveway
We have already had almost 14 tons of rock delivered. We covered the driveway and I will be honest, I didn’t want to take photos of the after. It looked like mud and well…poop. The day it was delivered (and we assume dug) was very rainy so the rocks we got were COATED in this filthy mixture. It was a big let down to see all of our hard work amount to a muddy and disgusting looking mess. The rock underneath is supposed to be a beautiful mix of rose and gold colored rocks. I have taken the before and I will post specifically on that project once it is fully completed. We have some exciting stuff planned with the driveway and well I will leave the rest of it to be a surprise.
Cabinets
They are knotty pine cabinets. They are very yellow and that just doesn’t meet the aesthetic needs we have. I am about to try something kind of crazy with the cabinets this week. We have taken one of the cabinet fronts of a cabinet we will be removing and I will be testing a painting plan here very soon and I am rather excited to see if it turns out in reality the way it does in my mind.
and honestly the most exciting news of the night……
WE JUST GOT NOTIFICATION THAT OUR PRIVACY FENCE GOT APPROVED!!!!
Fencing
This will be a metric BUTT-TON of work (like my technical words?)! BUT it is kind of the whole reason we purchased the cabin. We kind of have an obsession with our ATVs. We got them a couple of months after my dear father died. Riding ATVs was the first real joy I had after his passing, within 5 minutes of riding on a tour I knew we had to have our own. A couple of months later we turned the dream into a reality and purchased the ATVs. A couple of years later we purchased the cabin. We purchased the cabin in large part so we could have our ATVs up in the mountains and be close to the ATVs and mountains and have a nice place to go and rest. There was a 4ft chain-link fence there but that doesn’t do much to help keep those bad-boys secure. ATVs are are highly desirable to people who want to thief them. My goal is to hide them behind a 6ft privacy fence and WOO WOO we will be able to do this!
I know I have been super quiet for a few weeks but we have been busy doing some background work. Unfortunately we won’t be able to go back up to the cabin until next weekend, but boy howdy do I have some great things planned.
I know this was long but thank you as always for reading.
I will be posting some hopefully exciting posts very soon.
