Ok so I will admit it, I really dislike throwing things away. It may be due to the fact that I lived in Germany for so long and recycling is a huge deal there. I personally hate it that my garbage container is larger than my recycling container. What the heck waste management?!? Anyhow, I always have a LOT of cling sheets left over after laundry. I got curious with what if anything you could use these things for. I used my friend google and saw one of the many uses are cleaning faucets. Tonight I decided to try it. The first photo is kind of embarrassing. We have had a cleaning service for a while but we decided to cancel these services and wow…not sure they were cleaning this well. Here ya go…
But it really shows the difference and here
Is the finished product!
I honestly don’t know if I did it right or not. I put a little bit of water on it and scrubbed with the tiniest bit of elbow grease and wow. I like the results!! What do ya think?
Well that’s just spiffy! Look at you being all thrifty 😉
Thanks! I just hate throwing them away after one use. It just really bothers me!
I saw this on Home Talk and just tried it today. It works like a charm! I had been thinking the same thing, how there had to be a usage for these dryer sheets, ( I re-use them twice) besides as dust cloths. I am thrilled at how great these worked and will be saving them for future uses. Thanks for the tip!
Hi Audra! I am so excited this tip worked for you. I have seen so many different ideas on that post on how we all can re-use these items that mostly we just throw away. Thanks for commenting and please come back anytime!
I use mine to remove pet hair from my couch and cloth dining chairs.
SRe, I am going to try this! I have two fur children and they always are leaving their fur on our sofas. Thanks for the idea 😀
I found that putting one in a hard-to-clean pot or pan loosens the stuck-on good and makes it ea s y to clean.
Janice,
Thank you so much for commenting! I love all of these ideas here and at Hometalk.com!
If you use them to Clem baseboards, the dust and fur from pets doesn’t cling to them so quickly. I also use them to clean off dust from furniture between polishing with other products. This also keeps dust from clinging so quickly.
Thanks for the recommendations Janet!!
I will put them in my heat/air vents in my house. It will help catch dust and the smell is great.
I will have to try that Rebecca! Thank you so much for posting 🙂
Yay!! So glad I found you! I LOVE Thrifty use and reuse ideas! I too, am a proud “MAN, There’s gotta be another use for this…!!!” gal !!
Hey there Naomi! I too, am so glad you found me!!! I’m happy to know there are more people out there who just like finding more uses for items. Please come back and look around 😀
I use dryer sheets inside home made items like pillows, inside “batting” for cloth postcards, interfacing for small items. I put them in dresser drawers to keep clothes smelling fresh, as a dust cloth , and inside my bathroom cupboards and linen closet. I’m always looking for new ideas. Thanks for yours.
Thanks for commenting Peg! I like your ideas for different ways to use them!
We had a massive amount of mosquitoes last summer. I went to Walmart and they were out of mosquito spray of any kind. I left through the garden department and the man working that department had on short sleeves so I ask him what are you using to keep the mosquitoes away. He said, “My mother told me when I was 5 years old to keep one of these in my pocket during the summer and mosquitoes will not bother you. He pulled out a dryer sheet. I had to check it out to make sure it was true, so the next evening we were barbecuing in my back yard. My daughter started complaining about mosquitoes so I went and got a dryer sheet and that ended the complaints. I now make sure I tie one on my dogs collar before she goes outside. My sister stapled one right outside her front door and back door and she said as long has she replaced them periodically she did not have mosquitoes in her house.
Myrna,
That is a great experience to share! Since I posted this I have read several things about mosquitos being turned away by dryer sheets. I think I am gonna have to test this out once the snow is gone and spring has sprung!
Affix a dryer sheet on your hat, or clip to your hair and pesky knats stay away too. I helped my sister-in-law pick corn one summer and she gave me the tip. No knats while picking corn in the corn field. It helps when mowing grass too.
Hi Carole!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment 😀
I wish I knew this trick when I was growing up and had to mow two acres of land in South Carolina. Where I work at now, if you take a walk in the summer you are sometimes SURROUNDED by those pesky buggers, I believe I will take some with me when walking to lunch or just going for a walk outside.
That is soooo cool. I never thought about reusing cling sheete. Thanks Raye for the awesome suggestion.
I use them to wipe out soot from cooled candle jars and then also to wipe out leftover candle wax residue. Works like a charm! I can then use them as fire starters by stuffing them with dryer lint into toilet paper tubes.
I love all the ideas for things that have more than one life…so to speak. I have one for you in case it happens to you…..I have cats and one got closed in a closet accidentally….well it had to go and did so on some boots that I thought were ruined. I lined them with dryer sheets and sprayed with pet oder spray- poof smell gone. I use them to refresh my car, used ones in the bottom of the trash cans in bathrooms, and a sheet in my suitcases to keep them ‘fresh’ between uses..in tennis shoes or regular shoes…not to mention use them to clean off shoes with are some of the ways I use them.
We have found, if you have a boat of any sort…you have wasps with big muddobber mounds on the boat, everwhere…even a closed boat we get mud mounds in the salon. Take 1 & stick it 1/2 way thru the door upon tie in up the boat for the weekend and leaving. You won’t come back & find any.
Also stuff 1 in each end of the hollow pole from the bimini, and they don’t follow you on your excursions.
ALMOST NEVER DO WE HAVE THOSE MESSY MOUNDS TO CLEAN UP….
Happy boating!
I just found you accidentally and couldn’t be any happier I did! I will for sure be following you. Thanks for the awesome dryer sheet tip. I will be trying this today as Saturday morning is my “cleaning” day!!! Thanks a ton
