I like to bake … a lot.
One day, in a previous position, I was introduced to a banana bread, but this was no ordinary banana bread, this was from heaven. Now granted, many of you, if not all of you, know about chocolate chip banana bread. I, however, had never experienced this before. They also served it with whipped butter, warm, right out of the oven. DROOOOOOL
So I took a recipe off of a bread pan I got (so creative) and I decided to add chocolate chips to the batter and throw it in the oven to see how it turned out. This was not enough for the non-creative, non-genuis that I am. I decided I needed to add a row of chocolate to the top. This was a mistake. Now my hubby, and choco-holic co-worker would tell you that this story is sacrilegious, but in my opinion it was TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE.
I have learned to add the chocolate to the top, towards the end. If you don’t, all of the chocolate chips will sink into the bread and form a chocolate tube in the center.
When you wait until towards the end, they turn out like this….
special note, if you don’t have chocolate chips, take a bar of baking chocolate and rough chop it and throw it on top. That is what I did with the photo of the finished loaf.
HOLY COW MY OVEN WAS DIRTY!
